Halsey has dropped their new song “Lucky” and it samples the beloved hit single by Britney Spears.
The 29-year-old singer also interpolates Monica‘s song “Angel of Mine” on the new track.
“I’m so lucky, I’m a star/ But I cry, cry, cries in my lonely heart, thinking/ If there’s nothing missing in my life/ Then why do these tears come at night?” Halsey sings in the chorus.
Halsey initially teased the song earlier this month by telling fans, “When I was 5, it always felt like Britney was singing directly to me. 24 years later, these words hit different. love you forever.”
In a Q&A with fans, Halsey revealed Britney‘s reaction to the song.

Halsey was asked how they came up with the idea of sampling Britney and they replied, “I remember the first time I heard her sing ‘lucky’ and it hitting me at such a young age that I had no idea what her life was really like. and that feeling resonates with me so much still.
