ABBEVILLE, La. (KLFY) -- A man has been arrested and charged with attempted murder for allegedly shooting at a moving car in Abbeville early Saturday morning, authorities said.
Sage Michael Louviere, 18, is charged with attempted first degree murder in connection with an alleged drug deal involving juveniles from Lafayette Parish.
Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s deputies responded to the sound of multiple gunshots just before 2 a.m. Saturday in the area of La. 82 north of McDonalds in Abbeville. Upon arrival, no one was found outside and no one had reported any shootings or injuries, officials said.
Investigators said several juveniles came to Abbeville to purchase illegal drugs. During the transaction someone shot several rounds of ammunition at the vehicle as it drove away.
At approximately 4 a.m. the Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s Office received a call from the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office in reference to a 15-year-old boy taking his mother’s vehicle without permission and returning it with multiple bullet holes and damages. After police spoke with the juvenile it was found that the incident the boy described was the gunshots that Vermilion Parish deputies heard.
Investigators identified Louviere as the suspect. He turned himself in Tuesday to the Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s Office in reference to the incident. Bond details were not released.
A juvenile other than the driver of the vehicle was also arrested as a result of the investigation, authorities said. That juvenile has not been charged with any violent offenses and was released to the custody of his/her parent(s).
The investigation is ongoing, and more arrests and charges are possible.
