CATSKILL, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- State police and the Catskill Fire Company responded to a fatal rollover crash in Catskill on Wednesday night. The crash took place on Route 9W around 11 p.m.
The initial investigation by state police determined that a GMC Envoy heading south on Route 9W left the roadway and struck the wall of an overpass, causing the car to be consumed in flames. The driver, identified as Thomas Konow, 61, of Claverack, was declared dead at the scene.
The Catskill Fire Company thanked three nearby good Samaritans who reportedly attempted to free Konow before first responders arrived. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
