The Follow the Music project returns on Friday for its sixth edition, with another fantastic concert in an unexpected spot in Larnaca. This time, the Larnaca-based multicultural choir Armoniya, under the direction of Rania Al Najjar, joins forces with two choirs from Lebanon, the Notre-Dame of Jamhour Choir and the JAWA Choir of Lebanon in Paris, to take listeners on a journey through various music of the world. The musical encounter is enriched by the Gaba Project with their handpan, percussion and lyre.
The Follow the Music project is an action of the Larnaka 2030 organisation and activates the lesser-known aspects of the city and district of Larnaca through a series of concerts in secret places. Each edition begins with the announcement of the performers and the wider area where the concert will take place with the exact location remaining unknown. The audience has to participate in a game of exploration each time, following a series of clues. The exact location of the concert is made known to those who have registered two hours before the concert via email.
The Follow the Music project also serves another important goal of Larnaka 2030, which is the promotion of young musicians. It introduces new music acts by giving visibility to their work and helping them build their own audience.
So far, Follow the Music has travelled to Livadia, Kiti, the centre of Larnaca, Lefkara and even Famagusta. Over 30 musicians and hundreds of audience members who have warmly embraced the project have enjoyed unique musical evenings. The ‘where’ for this week’s show remains unknown, revealed only to those attending.
