There have been many times when a cricket match was paused due to bad weather, pitch being invaded, or some injury happening. However, a hilarious incident took place during the recently-finished Test between England and West Indies at Trent Bridge, Nottingham. During this match, on England’s second innings of the fourth day, a balloon, which which was shaped as a unicorn, appeared on the field out of nowhere. This left the crowd rather confused and in shock. While the match was paused briefly, a ground staff member was more than quick to rush to the ground and take the balloon away.
The crowd saw the funny side of this incident and started shouting “ole” in harmony, as Ollie Pope, Harry Brook and Joe Root each hit a century as England won the second Test against West Indies by 241 runs.
Victory in Nottingham was also the firs time England passed 400 runs in both innings in the whole 147-year long history of test cricket.
