U.S. Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) was hit with a barrage of criticism from his own supporters on Wednesday evening as the GOP lawmaker shared a new photo of himself on social media.
Gaetz, an ally of former president Donald Trump and a purported contender to become Florida's governor after Ron DeSantis, was recently criticized for his appearance at the Republican National Convention, where many viewers were more concerned about his complexion than his words. As Gaetz compared Republican vice presidential candidate J.D. Vance to Abraham Lincoln, dozens of people commented on his smoothed face.
Now, Gaetz's own supporters have hopped on the bandwagon of criticism.

Gaetz included no words in the captions space when sharing the photograph of himself, which may or may not be generated by A.I., and appears to show him in some sort of prison facility. His fans, however, did have words for him.
