IT was a familiar feeling for German minnows Rottach-Egern as they were hammered 14-1 by Bayern Munich.
The friendly has become the traditional curtain raiser for Bayern’s season – with the Munich club battering Rottach-Egern 27-0 last season.
So in that sense, it was an improvement compared to the last result for the German minnows.
The game was Vincent Kompany’s first in charge since his shock move to the club from Burnley.
Rumoured Manchester United target Noussair Mazraoui was on the score sheet as he continues to be linked with a £20million move to the Red Devils.
Reacting to the scoreline on X, Bayern Munich wrote: “We’re just being friendly ”
But not all fans were happy about Bayern running up the score against such easy opposition.
One fan said: “What if it was competitive?”
Another said: “against a team that no one knows.”
And some fans said they should have won by more with one writing: “You’d be as well setting up manikins and playing against them”

Another said: “You people do this every year with this club, it’s getting pretty old…we need real competition for our preseason fixtures sigh.”
A third wrote: “They play these same guys every time and cook them ”
A fourth compared the result to last season and said Bayern: “Fell off bad.”
Speaking after the game, Kompany said the friendly with the minnows was an important “tradition”.
He said: “It’s nice to be here with the fans. I know how important this tradition is for the club. We’ve implemented everything we intended in the last few days – and also got a look at the young players.
“We’re pleased with the game today. The boys fought for every ball and always tried to be positive. We’re still missing a number of players.
“Hopefully we’ll get everybody back fit over the coming weeks. It’s important that we’re fit for the cup match and then the start of the Bundesliga.”
Harry Kane was absent as he continues his recovery from the Euros.
With England reaching the final, he has been given an extended period of time off.
Michael Olise was also prevented from making his Bayern debut as he is with the France squad for the Olympics.
