The Indian Test and ODI captain is known very well for his hard-hitting. The opener generally gives India a terrific start in both the ODI and T20I format but is also not shy to smash the bowlers for maximums in Test cricket.
Nicknamed ‘The Universe Boss’, Gayle terrorized bowling lineups especially in T20Is and ODIs. He was also known for playing Test cricket like a limited over format where he obliterated the bowlers by smashing them around the park.
Not only was Afridi terrific as a bowler, he was a fantastic batsman as well. The all-rounder was known to try and hit the bowler for a maximum as soon as he came on to bat regardless of the format. Many times this strategy worked while many times it didn’t, but when it did work, the bowlers used to get absolutely decimated by Afridi.
Another batsman who showed no mercy to the bowlers regardless of the format, McCullum is easily one of the best hard-hitting batsmen to ever play the game. When in form, the former New Zealand captain was an absolute nightmare for the bowlers with his fearless approach and hard-hitting prowess.
One of McCullum’s teammates and his opening partner on many occasions, Guptill was also a brilliant hitter of the ball. His hard-hitting prowess was best displayed in his knock of 237 runs against West Indies in the ODI World Cup 2015. Guptill still holds the record for the highest individual score in ODI World Cup history.
