NEW YORK (PIX11) -- If you’ve been thinking of adopting a furry friend, today might be the day.
In honor of New York City’s Adopt-A-Dog Day, the Animal Care Centers of NYC in partnership with Royal Canin Pet Food will waive adoption fees for pups at their shelters on Wednesday. New pet parents will also get a free one-month supply of dog food to help welcome the newest members of their family.
The Animal Care Centers of NYC is a non-profit organization that has been working to end animal homelessness in the five boroughs for almost 30 years. Recently shelter organizers have been calling for more adoptees, and even fosters, to help decrease the high volume of dogs in its shelters. Earlier this month, a spokesperson for ACC told PIX11 they had about 350 dogs in their care when they only had room for about 185.
Prospective pet parents can find their furry soulmate using the Animal Care Centers of NYC app or visiting their website at nycacc.org.
