Just as August arrives another traditional festival is added to the summer agenda. Celebrating arts, culture and local life, the village of Ayios Theodoros in Larnaca hosts a three-day festival full of music, food and tradition.
The festival will be held on August 2, 3 and 4, inviting locals, visitors and tourists to the village to enjoy a programme of artistic interventions, music, theatre, dance and Cypriot produce. Now in its 10th edition, this year’s festival has invited a big name from the Greek music scene to perform.
The first day of the festival will feature performances of traditional dances as well as a live music programme with Vasiliki Hadjiadamou. Cypriot pasta demonstrations with Chryso Lefou, workshops and tastings will also welcome visitors exploring the village corners. This day of the festival has free entrance while days 2 and 3 have ticketed entry.
The highlight of the festival is perhaps the second evening when renowned Greek singer Giannis Ploutarchos will hold a concert accompanied by his daughter Katerina. The concert doors will open at 9pm and presale tickets cost €25 while at the door, tickets will be €30.
A Cypriot comedy will entertain visitors on the third and final day of the festival. The play Ta Pezounia tis Parasieukous will take place at the village’s open-air theatre at 7.45pm on August 4 with just a €3 entry, closing off the festival’s 10th edition with plenty of laughter.
