Highlighting and rewarding its Corporate Responsibility (CSR), Bank of Cyprus (BoC) received two awards, platinum and gold, at the “Boussias Cyprus Responsible Awards 2023”.
The platinum award, in the “Long-term Investment” category, relates to the establishment of the Bank of Cyprus Oncology Centre 26 years ago. A partnership between the Bank and the Republic of Cyprus, which the Bank has maintained and continues to support since 1992, when the decision was taken, and six years later when the Centre started its operation. The Bank has supported the Centre financially from the first, contributing EUR 70 million to date. In 2023, a doubling of the annual sponsorship to €2 million was announced, in order to upgrade and create new services.
The gold award, in the “Investment – Local Community/State Cooperation” category, was given to the Bank of Cyprus’ SupportCY network, created during the difficult days of the pandemic to provide support to government services and beyond. The Bank continues to this day to be the network’s main supporter, both through its companies/members and through the SupportCY Volunteer Corps, which is constantly growing and strengthening. Thus, Bank of Cyprus’ SupportCY, once again demonstrates the value of public-private cooperation to meet the urgent and serious needs of our society.
Upon accepting the awards on behalf of the Bank, BoC CSR Manager Elli Ioannidou expressed her sincere thanks to the jury, stressing that: “Bank of Cyprus steadfastly demonstrates its role in Cypriot society, and will continue in every possible way to be its main supporter, in every difficult moment, whether it concerns health, education or the environment”.
