These restaurants are celebrating the 2024 Olympics with special menu items
Restaurants are getting into the spirit of the 2024 Olympics.
Opening ceremonies for the Summer Games in Paris take place Friday, July 26. Coverage begins at 9 a.m. on NBC.
Eateries are celebrating with limited-time hot dogs, burgers, wings and sweets. Even if the items aren’t in Olympians’ diets, they could be in yours.
Here’s what’s out there, according to news releases.
Chipotle Mexican Grill: The Newport Beach-based chain is bringing back gold foil wrapping for its burritos on Thursday, July 25. Chipotle could be the exception to the dietary rule since it has partnerships with five athletes for burritos and bowls on its digital menu. Krispy Kreme: A “Passport to Paris Collection” includes a Crème Brûlée Doughnut, a Double Chocolate Éclair Doughnut and a Raspberry & Vanilla Crème Doughnut. They are available at participating shops, and six-packs will be delivered to select grocery stores, according to the chain. krispykreme.com
Pink’s Hot Dogs: Richard and Gloria Pink are partnering with friends Guillaume Guedj and Alissa Vannah of Mr. T Los Angeles, a French restaurant, on four specialty dogs named after famous sites in Paris: Notre Dame, Le Louvre, Champs-Élysées and the Eiffel Tower. The dogs will feature such ingredients as Beef Bourguignon, Béarnaise sauce and Gruyère cheese, according to a Facebook post. Red Robin: The sit-down casual chain has a Gold Medal Burger that weighs approximately 1¼ pounds and features three meat patties, three slices of cheese, lettuce, tomato and Red’s Relish on a brioche bun. redrobin.com
Wingstop: The chicken chain is setting up a “House of Flavor” pop-up in Paris to bring its flavors to the world. It has a website en français. Stateside, Wingstop is promoting a Summer of Flavor Bundle with 25 boneless wings, fries, Cajun Corn, three dips and two 20-ounce drinks. wingstop.com
