Love Island’s Jess Spencer breaks down in tears tonight in a heartbreaking moment after a bombshell from Ayo.
The ITV2 show star is left devastated after her man tells her something her brother told him during the family day, which aired last night.
Viewers saw Ayo’s sibling tell him he believed he was better suited to his ex, Mimii, who has since moved on with Josh.
While Jess did not hear what Ayo’s brother said, tonight will see Ayo tell his girl the brutal thoughts of his family.
“I heard that my brother and my sister really do like you,” Ayo tells her, while sat at the firepit, in a first look clip shared on Love Island’s social media accounts.
“Of course they had their opinions,” he continues. “One of my brother’s opinions was, to let you know as well, was that he felt like me and Mimii are better suited.”
Jess’s face then falls as she takes in this shocking blow.
“I just wanted you to be in the clear about it, but I’d rather you just talk to me about how you feel rather than bottle it up, ” Ayo urges, as Jess still takes in the news.
When Jess says nothing, he goes on: ” I can tell right now how you feel.”
“If you can tell, then I don’t need to say it, do I?” Jess responds, before exhaling loudly and running her hands through her hair.
Last night, the ‘tomorrow night’ clip at the end of the show also showed Jess later break down in tears when she is alone with pal Matilda.
“What’s wrong? What is it?” Matilda is heard, as she tries to comfort a visibly tearful Jess.
She then dabs her mates eyes as Jess throws her head back in anguish.
Fans of the show were certainly not impressed by Ayo’s actions, judging from their comments on social media.
When the first look clip was shared on instagram, one wrote: “Don’t get why Ayo feels the need to tell Jess that. She looks defeated, I feel bad for her.”
Presenter Will Njobvu, who regularly appears on spin-off show, Aftersun, even added: “Did Ayo REALLY need to tell Jess that piece of information? (especially if he doesn’t believe his brother’s viewpoint)”
“No need at all! I think he feels the same way too,” chipped in a third.
Others, however, praised Ayo’s decision to tell Jess, even if it hurts.
One defender of Ayo wrote: “He did say he would keep her in the loop on everything, hard decision, but best he was honest with her.”
A second agreed, saying: “It’s what she wants though Ayo is keeping her in the loop.”
A third fell somewhere in the middle, believing Ayo was right to tell her, but should have waited until they were off camera.
They pointed out: “He could’ve told her when the show was finished filming, it’s embarrassing to hear that in the villa.”
Love Island continues tonight at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX.
