A MUM has been brutally shamed after giving in her seven-year-old’s tantrum and buying stylish heels.
It’s no secret that growing up, many of us acted like mini adults – whether that meant going through your mum’s make-up bag and rocking a purse like a little fashionista.
One little fashionista threw a tantrum after demanding her mum bought heels for her[/caption]With a stylish mum like Liana (@lianawhoo), it perhaps comes as no surprise that her daughter, seven, aspired to be just as trendy as her – most recently demanding Liana to buy ”feet-deforming” heels to add to her wardrobe.
The fashion-loving influencer, who’s in her thirties, revealed that she had taken her kids to a store when the seven-year-old started begging for her first-ever heels.
At first, Liana was totally against it saying she needed to ”wait a few more years” before she could stroll around in the ‘adult’ shoes.
Already seeing herself in the block heeled sandals, her daughter began crying and even started a tantrum, refusing Liana to take them off.
The mum, believed to be from the USA, admitted that eventually she gave in – although she didn’t want to see her child grow older.
”Those years broke my heart, but I just wasn’t ready for my baby girl to grow up” Liana said in the now-viral video.
”Even her brother was trying to convince me to let her get them, so I cracked – and let me tell you, she shined in those heels!”
Sharing the video, where the little fashion fanatic was sipping on a drink whilst relaxing on the couch with her new cream heels, the mum added: ”Had to document such a special moment.”
But although the daughter may be all chuffed with her wardrobe addition, the clip went viral for all the wrong reasons, attracting a lot of criticism.
Thousands of the 3million viewers flocked to comments to shame Liana, who they reckoned only had herself to blame.
One person pointed out: ”Seeing her cry for them could’ve easily been avoided. You took her to a store, to a shoe section, picked out her size, and watched her put them on her feet.
”Many decisions were made well before making her beg for them.”
Someone else agreed, adding that the little girl was far too young to don heels, whether she had begged for them or not.
”Damaging her entire bone structure just because you are unable to educate her and explain why not and establish boundaries.”
''Dress up is one thing, but if we’re talking about selecting shoes that kids will actually walk in, I’d take a hard pass on heels for any little kid or even tween,'' is how one expert at Tanglewood Foot Specialists feel.
Dr. Ramona Brooks, spokeswoman for the American Podiatric Medical Association (APMA), told Footwear News that parents should wait until their kids reach the age of 14 to 16 years old — if not longer — to try out that first pair of high heels.
She explained: “By this age, the growth plates have fully closed and feet have stopped growing. Also, the muscles in the legs and feet are well-developed to be able to tolerate greater stress.”
Finally, the expert reminded that high heels can contribute to a number of problems, such as lower back pain, shin splints, ankle sprains and fractures, bunions and hammertoes.
So, even when you do start wearing heels, this should be done done sparingly.
Another chimed in, writing: ”Wait till she is an adult and she cries for something to someone who doesn’t care…no, means no. That’s it.”
”Her feet are still developing. The shoes will deform her feet,” a fourth warned the parent.
Whilst Liana hasn’t yet responded to the haters, the mum has also received support from some viewers, who hit back at the trolls.
”The way her confidence was ACTIVATED once she got them is what life is all about,” said one social media user.
”She’s don’t matter it’s about building up your kids and knowing as their mom when YOU think it’s ok! Don’t listen to anyone!”
