Friends and fans alike have referred to Sean Kennedy as the most successful racer who has yet to earn the Peterborough Speedway Bone Stock track championship.
Originally from Courtice, Ontario, the racer – who along with his partner Rachel recently purchased their first home – says while it would be nice to win the season title, he always enjoys his time at the track.
“From back as early as my karting days, I’ve met some great people and made some life-long friends in racing,” said Sean Kennedy. “We’ve been close quite a few times over the past few seasons, but our class is so close that we’re usually quite happy to see anyone in the division experience the level of success that comes with clinching the crown.”
Heading into the Saturday, July 13th event, things were already very tight at the top of the Bone Stock point standings and a few days later, not much has changed except the name of the driver holding-down the top spot in the running order. Even though the No. 9 car was 3rd in the initial running order following the holdover feature from June 8th, post race inspection would see Kennedy credited with the main event win.
The regularly scheduled feature tilt saw Kennedy 5th in rundown, but he was moved up to 3rd spot when a pair of the teams ahead of him in the caution free event saw their efforts disqualified because of infractions. The driver admits it is still early in the year, but he’s still happy to be leading the way.
“Our team will follow the same template of being prepared for every event and racing the competition as clean as we’d like them to race us,” explained the driver, who’ll celebrate his 29th birthday in August. “If we can have some racing luck on our side, the single point cushion we have now can grow week-by-week by the end of the season.”
Sean Kennedy and SK Racing would like to thank his parents, fans and friends for their support during the 2024 season. The No. 9 team is proudly backed by Signworks Canada, Apex Auto, Strata Drilling Group, Viking’s Den and Clarke Motorsports Communications.
