Witt, Cole, let’s go
When I was a kid in about the year 2000 or so, I went to Kauffman Stadium to see one of my favorite pitchers play: Randy Johnson. The Big Unit was pitching for the Diamondbacks, and he absolutely destroyed the Royals. I was not a Royals fan at the time having recently moved from Cleveland, so I thought Johnson destroying the Royals was rad.
Anyway, today Cole Ragans is pitching for the Royals. Ragans isn’t Randy Johnson—no one was, no one is—but like Johnson, Ragans is a dominant lefty who might be on his way to winning a Cy Young. Let’s hope tonight is another notch on his belt, so to speak.
Game 101.
