With more than 1,300 properties worldwide and 28 brands including Andaz, Park Hyatt, Destination by Hyatt Hotels, and The Unbound Collection, the World of Hyatt loyalty program gives you access to exclusive benefits at some of the swankiest hotels and resorts on earth.
Hyatt points can be an extremely valuable travel rewards currency as you can redeem them for free nights at participating Hyatt hotels, airline miles, car rentals, room upgrades, dining and spa experiences, and unforgettable travel adventures.
Here's everything you need to know about earning, redeeming, and maximizing your Hyatt hotel rewards.
Hyatt has two main categories of points: base points, which you'll earn by staying at Hyatt properties and making qualifying purchases, and bonus points, which account for nearly all other points earned within the World of Hyatt ecosystem. World of Hyatt membership sign-up is free.
If you're just starting out, the quickest way to earn Hyatt points is by opening The World Of Hyatt Credit Card. New applicants can earn 30,000 bonus points after spending $3,000 on purchases in the first three months of account opening, plus earn up to 30,000 more bonus points by earning 2 bonus points total per $1 (up to $15,000) spent spent in the first six months from account opening on purchases that normally earn 1 bonus point. Because you can redeem Hyatt points for free standard nights starting at 5,000 Hyatt points per night, earning this welcome bonus gives you plenty of flexibility.
While the card does have a $95 annual fee, the benefits more than make up for it. You'll earn 4x points per $1 spent on qualified purchases at Hyatt hotels and up to 5x points per $1 from Hyatt as a World of Hyatt member by using the The World Of Hyatt Credit Card. You'll also earn 2x per dollar on dining, gym memberships, commuting, and flights booked directly with the airline, while all other purchases earn 1 point per dollar. Those traveling abroad won't have to worry about pesky foreign transaction fees, and as long as your account is open, your points never expire.
Among the best perks are the free anniversary night you can redeem at any of Hyatt's Category 1-4 properties after your first year (you'll earn another free night if you spend $15,000 during a calendar year), five qualifying night credits each year to get you toward your next status tier, and two extra qualifying night credits whenever you spend $5,000 with the card. You'll also get instant Discoverist elite status, which we'll get into more later.

If you prefer flexible rewards, transferring points from Chase Ultimate Rewards to Hyatt at a 1:1 ratio in 1,000-point increments might be a better option since Hyatt is one of Chase's transfer partners.
By signing up for one of these credit cards, you'll be able to earn more transferable Chase Ultimate Rewards points in a shorter time:
Luckily, these are some of the best travel credit cards out there, so there's no downside to using them even if you're not sure if you'll transfer points to Hyatt.
You can also transfer points to any of the Chase cards mentioned above from no-annual-fee Chase Ultimate Rewards cards like the Chase Freedom Flex®, Chase Freedom Unlimited®, Ink Business Unlimited® Credit Card, or Ink Business Cash® Credit Card, then move them to Hyatt at the same 1:1 ratio.
As a World of Hyatt member, you'll save up to 10% with members-only rates and earn 5x base points — Hyatt credit cardholders will earn an additional 4x points, for a total of 9x points — per eligible dollar spent at Hyatt hotels and resorts.
Here's a look at Hyatt's brands:
Note that there are several JdV by Hyatt properties and a few others that don't participate in the World of Hyatt loyalty program, though they are still affiliated with it:
You'll also score extra benefits at Small Luxury Hotels of the World properties, like 2 p.m. late check-out, early noon check-in, one-category room upgrades, complimentary Wi-Fi, and breakfast.
If you frequently stay at Hyatt hotels, earning elite status can lead to even more benefits.
As a World of Hyatt member, you'll earn 5x base points on Hyatt stays, have access to members-only rates, and have resort fees waived on award night stays. There are also the following Hyatt loyalty tiers:
To be a Discoverist, all you need to do is stay 10 nights, host three meetings, earn 25,000 base points, or have The World Of Hyatt Credit Card.
Discoverist status adds special perks like priority check-in, an upgrade to a preferred room (if one is available), 2 p.m. check-out (based on availability and request), complimentary Wi-Fi and water bottles, and a 10% bonus on eligible purchases.
You'll also get free breakfast at participating Hyatt Place and Small Luxury Hotels of the World properties, and get to earn 1 point per dollar when you link your Hyatt and American Airlines accounts to purchase American Airlines flights.
If you have elite status with both Hyatt and American Airlines, you'll earn 1 AAdvantage mile for every eligible dollar spent at Hyatt, so it's a win-win.
You'll earn Explorist status by staying 30 nights, hosting 10 meetings, or earning 50,000 base points. In return, you'll get the same perks as Discoverist status, plus a complimentary room upgrade (but not for suites or rooms with Club Lounge access) and guaranteed availability up to 72 hours ahead.
Globalist status — which you get by staying 60 nights, hosting 20 meetings, or earning 100,000 base points — gives you all of the benefits mentioned above.
You'll also get a dedicated concierge phone line, guaranteed availability up to 48 hours ahead, room upgrades (including standard suites), 4 p.m. checkout (based on availability and request), free parking on award nights, Club Lounge access or breakfast, priority access at check-in, and the ability to share your Globalist benefits with a designated Guest of Honor if you're gifting an award night.
You'll earn the title of Lifetime Globalist when you accumulate 1,000,000 base points. Additional perks for reaching this prestigious tier include four complimentary suite upgrades to use annually, one Category 1-7 free night award, and a dedicated concierge agent to attend to your every need.
Hyatt normally sells points for 2.4 cents apiece, available in increments of 1,000 from $24 per 1,000 points. Note that you can only buy 55,000 Hyatt points per calendar year (unless an exception is explicitly mentioned as part of a promotion) and you must be a World of Hyatt member for at least 60 days before you can buy or receive them. Occasionally, Hyatt offers discounts or bonus promotions for buying points.
You can earn 500 bonus Hyatt points and save up to 25% on base rates when you book a car rental through Avis. Use Avis Worldwide Discount number K817700 and mention your Hyatt membership number when making your reservation.
Becoming a World of Hyatt member means you'll get valuable promotions sent straight to your inbox. Currently, there's also a promotion to earn 500 bonus points for staying at new Hyatt hotels and resorts around the world.
You'll earn 1 bonus point per dollar (up to 50,000 bonus points) by hosting meetings at Hyatt properties, as well as Discoverist status by hosting three, Explorist status for hosting 10, or Globalist status for hosting 20 qualifying meetings or events per year. Or you can redeem them for credits on future meetings:
The World Of Hyatt Credit Card cardholders can earn 5,000 bonus points per approved referral — up to 25,000 bonus points per calendar year — when you get a friend to sign up for the card.
Remember, you can always opt to earn miles through any of Hyatt's airline partners instead of accumulating more Hyatt points. Here's how many miles you could earn for each Hyatt stay:
World of Hyatt points are the gold standard of hotel rewards, with an average redemption value of 1.5 cents per point in Business Insider's most recent points and miles valuations. The program offers a variety of excellent redemption options, but some are better than others.
The best way to use Hyatt points will pretty much always be to redeem them for award stays at Hyatt-brand properties. Depending on where you book, you can get a stay worth hundreds (if not a thousand) of dollars a night.
Hyatt has eight redemption categories for its hotels, and there are off-peak, standard, and peak redemption levels for each depending on how busy the hotel is at the time of your visit.
Here's what you can expect for each of Hyatt's eight hotel categories:
Treat yourself to the ultimate birthday getaway, family vacation, or dream honeymoon at the most luxurious hotels and resorts in the world by booking your stay with Hyatt points. Here are some examples:
If all-inclusive resorts are more your style, consider redeeming Hyatt points at Hyatt Ziva or Hyatt Zilara properties. You can redeem 25,000 Hyatt points to stay at Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos. Or, you can use 21,000 Hyatt points for the Hyatt Ziva Riviera Cancun, Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta, or Hyatt Zilara Riveria Maya.
You can also redeem Hyatt points for luxury wellness stays at Miraval Resorts, which include a $175 resort credit for each person, and an assortment of healthy snacks, beverages, gourmet dining, fitness classes, wellness experiences, and lectures, among other perks. Reservations are based on single occupancy so you'll have to pay extra for a second person per night. Standard room redemptions start at 45,000 Hyatt points, while suites start at 75,000 Hyatt points and premium suites start at 105,000 Hyatt points — plus another 20,000 Hyatt points per night if you want a second person to join you.
For paid stays, you can also redeem Hyatt points for room upgrades to Regency Club or Grand Club level for 3,000 Hyatt points, standard suites for 6,000 Hyatt points, or premium suites for 9,000 Hyatt points.
To make your Hyatt points last even longer, pay the Points +Cash rate, which costs 50% of the points you'll need for a free night and gives you 50% to 70% off rates. Standard room Points + Cash redemptions will run you:
For standard suite Points + Cash redemptions, this becomes:
Points + Cash redemptions for premium suites are as follows:
For those booking wellness stays at Miraval Resorts, rates for standard rooms at single occupancy are 22,500 Hyatt points plus cash, and go up to 32,500 Hyatt points plus cash for double occupancy. For standard suites at single occupancy, you'll pay 37,500 Hyatt points plus cash and 47,500 Hyatt points plus cash for double occupancy, while premium suites will run you 52,500 Hyatt points plus cash at single occupancy and 62,500 Hyatt points at double occupancy.
The World Of Hyatt Credit Card cardholders can cash in their free anniversary night for a stay at any Category 1-4 property, so make it count.
For a standard room, Category 1 property standard rates are 5,000 Hyatt points (7,000 Hyatt points for Regency Club or Grand Club rooms, 8,000 Hyatt points for a standard suite, or 10,000 Hyatt points for a premium suite), while Category 4 hotels start at 15,000 Hyatt points (21,000 Hyatt points for Regency Club or Grand Club rooms, 24,000 Hyatt points for a standard suite, or 30,000 Hyatt points for a premium suite), so you've got some room to maneuver.
You can also redeem Hyatt points for in-room movies, transportation, parking, and in-room dining and spa experiences at participating Hyatt hotels and resorts. 1,000 Hyatt points earns you a credit of $10, while 65,000 Hyatt points earns you a credit of $1,000.
Hyatt's FIND Experiences let you take your pick of more than 500 activities around the world, like surfing lessons in Santa Monica or horseback riding in Abu Dhabi. You'd also earn 10 base points per dollar spent on experiences, plus another 4x base points if you used The World Of Hyatt Credit Card, for a total of 14 Hyatt points per dollar.
Members can also bid on limited-time opportunities via auction, gift experiences to loved ones, and put Hyatt points they'd already saved up toward an activity.
You can convert Hyatt points to airline partner miles, but you'll need to start by changing at least 5,000 Hyatt points, then additional points in increments of 1,250. When you convert 50,000 Hyatt points, you'll earn an extra 5,000 miles. Naturally, there are a few exceptions. For instance, in exchange for 5,000 Hyatt points, you'll receive:
You can redeem Hyatt points through Avis car rentals for access to members-only perks like intermediate rentals for 6,000 Hyatt points per day.
If you're feeling generous, you can share your Hyatt points, free award nights, or room upgrades with other World of Hyatt members. You can combine your points with another member's or purchase bonus points to help them reach an award goal of their own. They'll be able to accept up to 55,000 Hyatt points per year in increments of 1,000 points — unless it's part of a special promotion that doesn't allow this, so read the fine print carefully.
The name of the Hyatt rewards program is "World of Hyatt Loyalty Program." This program is designed to offer members a variety of rewards and benefits, allowing them to earn points for activities such as stays and dining, making every experience with Hyatt more rewarding.
Off-peak rewards start at as little as 3,500 points per night, while the most premium rewards at all-inclusive properties can run as high as 137,000 per night during peak periods. Many good Hyatt redemptions can be booked during standard travel periods for between 15,000 - 25,000 points per night.
Hyatt is neither under Marriott nor Hilton. It's a separate and independent hotel brand with its own loyalty program, known as the World of Hyatt. Hyatt has over 1,300 properties across the world.
