Colombo: First, there were speculations over whether Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli would be part of the Indian team for the Sri Lanka tour or not. But them they were picked for the ODI leg. Then why did they not travel with the Indian team which reached Colombo last night? The Indian board shared a video where the squad members could be seen during the travel but Rohit and Kohli were missing. In all probability, the two cricketers would join the side ahead of the ODIs.
The Indian team embarked on a new journey under Gautam Gambhir as the Men in Blue departed for Sri Lankan tour from Mumbai on Monday. India will play three T20Is scheduled from July 27, July 28, and July 30, followed by a three-match ODI series starting on August 1. The Pallekele International Stadium will host the T20I leg of the series, while the R Premadasa Stadium will host the 50-over matches.
With new combinations in place, it would be interesting to see the plans and the approach.
Kohli and Rohit have been on a break since India won the T20 World Cup. Both the cricketers have retired from T20Is after the WC triumph, but they will continue to lend their services in the other two formats.
