Jennifer Meyer Praises Ex Tobey Maguire, Credits Gwyneth Paltrow for Helping Her Get Through Divorce
Jennifer Meyer is sharing some rare comments about her divorce from Tobey Maguire.
If you didn’t know, the 47-year-old jewelry designer and the 49-year-old Spider-Man actor married in 2007 until their separation in 2016. The former couple, who share two children, finalized their divorce in 2020.
In a new interview, Jennifer sang her praises for Tobey while also crediting close friend Gwyneth Paltrow for helping her get through the divorce.
Keep reading to find out more…“Right when Tobey and I were starting to break up, I watched what Gwyneth Paltrow was doing with Chris [Martin],” Jennifer shared on Broad Ideas with Rachel Bilson & Olivia Allen podcast. “This ‘conscious uncoupling’ that everyone was sort of making fun of, I got to see it firsthand. It was the most beautiful thing I had ever witnessed two human beings go through.”
“She was so loving and kind and open to him and she created this family,” Jennifer continued. “I watched her do this, and I was like, wow. That’s not what I was taught growing up. I was taught that divorce is ugly.”
Gwyneth, 51, and Chris, 47, married in 2003 and announced their separation in 2014. The two have remained super close as they co-parented their two kids. Their divorce was finalized in 2015.
Jennifer said that Gwyneth introduced her to Dr. Habib Sadeghi, who led the Oscar-winning actress to the idea of “conscious uncoupling.”
“She didn’t tell me her process. She just said, I have someone for you to meet with. Good luck, basically. I think you gotta give people their own process,” Jennifer explained.
After watching Gwyneth and Chris live separate lives, but still come together for their kids inspired Jennifer to maintain a healthy family unit with Tobey.
“I just witnessed their beautiful breakup, and I was like, you guys are an example for every couple who is breaking up,” Jennifer said.
Jennifer went on to say that despite the divorce, she and Tobey have a great relationship today.
“I literally have the best ex-husband in the world, and I hit the jackpot,” Jennifer shared, adding that Tobey is her “best friend.”
“I honestly don’t know what I would do without him in my life,” Jennifer continued. “I ride for him so hard.”
Jennifer also noted that Tobey and her current boyfriend Geoffrey Ogunlesi are “close.”
Just recently, Jennifer fiercely defended Tobey against some rumors about his love life.
