What a weekend, am I right? One of the most powerful women in the world took center stage, asserting herself as the right person to get things done on her own terms. I am speaking, of course, about Jennifer Lopez. While the rest of the country was getting coconut-pilled, J.Lo was celebrating her 55th birthday with a weekend full of events in the Hamptons.
First, there was her Bridgerton-themed party on Saturday — because if J.Lo loves anything, it’s romance. Guests, including Lopez’s mother, Guadalup Rodriguez, arrived at the party in their finest Regency-era gowns. There was even a horse-drawn carriage! Hopefully J.Lo will release a newsletter about the party, granting us a fuller picture of the fête. (Did she make everyone dance in the era-appropriate manner?) Instead, all we have right now are paparazzi pics and an Instagram post Lopez shared on Saturday where she declared, “Today is gonna be a great day.”
On Sunday, Lopez had a more lowkey lunch at Arthur & Sons in Bridgehampton. According to “Page Six, she was joined by her twins, Max and Emme, her sister Lynda, and her longtime manager Benny Medina. One source told the tabloid that Lopez “got emotional” while talking about her past.
The tabloid also revealed that Lopez & Co. enjoyed “classic fried calamari, meatballs with ricotta, artichoke alla romano, salads, chicken parm, spicy rigatoni alla vodka, spaghetti aglio olio, lobster benedict, grilled salmon piccata over spinach and more.” Of course, there was dessert, too. “They also enjoyed dessert from a choice of spumoni my way, limoncello cheesecake and mini cannoli,” the tabloid reported. Shout out to whoever at Arthur & Sons negotiated having their entire menu printed in “Page Six” in exchange for a little gossip.
Now, of course, there’s one question that looms over J.Lo’s big birthday weekend. Where was Ben Affleck? Well, he wasn’t there. He’s still in Los Angeles. He was spotted driving around on Friday (wedding ring on), but that’s all I’ve got for you. Lopez’s birthday is on Wednesday — she’s a Leo, of course she had a weekend full of festivities before the big day — so we’ll see if they can make something work. I’m not getting my hopes up.
