An action plan to treat people who have been exposed to swimming pool chemicals has been launched after the incident at a hotel in Paphos, the state health services (Okypy) said on Monday.
Okypy added that the Paphos general hospital is in full readiness to handle any issue that may arise.
A team of doctors and nurses have activated protocols and provided the necessary treatment to 26 people – 12 adults and 14 children – who were rushed to hospital with respiratory problems.
Of those, 24 were treated and discharged, while two children aged 8 and 9 were admitted for further treatment.
Okypy said public hospitals were the only ones with the infrastructure, staff, equipment and expertise to successfully handle mass incidents, such as this one.
