AUSTIN (KXAN) -- The United States Women’s National Team’s (USWNT) will grace Q2 Stadium with its presence once again this year in an international friendly match against Iceland in October, according to a Monday announcement from Q2 and the United States Soccer Federation.
The USWNT played Nigeria in Q2 Stadium's first-ever match in 2021, and they've come back every year since. This will be the team's fourth year in a row coming to the stadium and their third match in it.
The friendly against Iceland will be the U.S. women's first match following the 2024 Olympics. It'll be held Thursday, Oct. 24 at 6:30 p.m.
“As the first-ever team to play at Q2 Stadium, it’s always a privilege to welcome the U.S. Women’s National Team to Austin,” said Austin FC President Andy Loughnane. “We’re honored to host them for their first match following the 2024 Paris Olympics.”
At Q2's inaugural game in 2021, the USWNT defeated Nigeria 2-0. The team came back in 2022 for a January training camp, and returned again in April 2023 for a friendly match against the Republic of Ireland.
The U.S. Men's National Team is also scheduled for an October friendly against Panama on the 12th.
Combined, the USWNT and USMNT have won all six of their all-time matches at Q2 Stadium without conceding a goal, the release said.
Tickets for the USWNT match go on sale to the public at 10 a.m. Friday, July 26. Austin FC Season Ticket members and Waitlist Members have access to ticket pre-sales beginning Wednesday, July 24 at 10 a.m. CT and 1 p.m. CT respectively.
