AMSTERDAM, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Parillo's Armory Grill has been a staple on Bridge Street in Amsterdam for over 50 years. Now, the Italian restaurant is permanently closed.
The Parillo family opened Armory Grill in 1973. Owners Ralph and Jackie Parillo didn't officially announce on the restaurant's Facebook page that it was closing, but Amsterdam Mayor Mike Cinquanti made a Facebook post on Sunday about the closure.
"If you've never been in the restaurant business or been part of a family who owned and operated one, you cannot imagine what a difficult challenge it can be," said Cinquanti. "Ralph and Jackie Parillo and their family have done it successfully for over three decades in their iconic Armory Grill."
Parillo's Armory Grill is listed as permanently closed on both Facebook and Google. The Facebook hours were changed to permanently closed about a month ago.
When calling the restaurant, it rings a few times before saying the call could not be completed. The Parillo family did not immediately return NEWS10's request for comment.
"On behalf of our city, we wish them both complete happiness during this next phase of their lives and thank them for their culinary contributions to our community," said Cinquanti.
