Fabrizio Romano reveals Spurs are in talks with club over player who will ‘leave’ this summer
Tottenham Hotspur boarded their flight to Japan earlier today to kick off the Asia leg of their pre-season tour and left two senior players back at Hotspur Way who are surplus to Ange Postecoglou’s plans.
Bryan Gil is set to leave Tottenham this summer
The Spurs head coach has selected a mix of promising academy talent and experience to head to Japan and South Korea, however, Postecoglou has once again shown there is no room for sentiment in his plans.
The official Spurs site released the travelling squad for the tour and while Fraser Forster has remained back at the club’s Hotspur Way training facility to continue his rehabilitation from a fractured foot, Bryan Gil and Sergio Reguilon were omitted to ‘explore prospective transfer opportunities’.
Tottenham insider Paul O’Keefe has now taken to social media platform X to reveal that the club are in discussions over a possible exit for Gil.
O’Keefe has claimed that La Liga outfit Girona are interested in the Spanish international, and while no transfer fee has been agreed at this stage, talks between the club and player are continuing.
Gil joined Tottenham back in 2021 for a £21.6m fee with Erik Lamela moving to Sevilla as part of the deal (The Sun).

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has also shared his understanding of Gil’s situation on X by confirming Girona have opened initial talks with the North Londoners.

Bryan Gil’s move to Tottenham has been nothing short of a disaster, the winger is not capable of dealing with the physicality of the Premier League and the fact he is said to have snubbed a loan to Brighton in January to continue to warm the bench at Spurs speaks volumes.
A move back to Spain would certainly suit Gil’s style of play, hopefully, Spurs can claw back a respectable amount of a fee, or at least command a decent future sell-on percentage.
