On July 20, at The Woods, Whoopi Goldberg received the Key to West Hollywood for her consistent support of the LGBTQIA+ community and for having had the first branded and tested woman-owned cannabis brand in California. This red carpet event featured West Hollywood Mayor John M. Erickson and Vice Mayor Chelsea Beyers.
Prior to the ceremony, the EGOT winner sat down for a nine-minute press conference to discuss the honor and the launch of her cannabis lines under her WhoopFam umbrella: Emma & Clyde and a revamped Whoopi & Maya line. Watch the full press conference in the video above.
Per the WeHo Times, “Emma & Clyde, named after Goldberg’s late mother and brother, will be available in select stores in California, Arizona, and Ohio. Initially launched in 2022 with a limited run in Arizona, the brand offers products for both medical and recreational users, including edibles, pre-rolls, flowers, and accessories. Goldberg’s second brand, Whoopi & Maya, originally launched in 2016 and shuttered less than four years later, returns with a focus on menstrual relief, general pain relief, and holistic wellness. The line includes cacao edibles, tinctures, topicals, and hydrotherapy products.”

According to the WhoopFam website, “Our family–owned and operated cannabis company, WhoopFam, is dedicated to cultivating high–quality cannabis products and providing exceptional customer service. Goldberg is an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony winner. She was the first Black woman to achieve EGOT status in 2002 and currently serves as the moderator on ABC’s Emmy-winning talk show “The View.”
