The Mirror report that Manchester City could enter the race for Crystal Palace playmaker, Eberechi Eze, this summer, with Tottenham also interested in the Premier League star.
The Mirror claim that Man City are assessing their options in case Kevin de Bruyne decides to swap Manchester for Saudi Arabia before the transfer window slams shut this summer.
This is an interesting development, as The Athletic reported at the start of July that Man City were not going to get involved in the Eze race, with the Palace winger having a £60m buy-out clause.
Eberechi Eze is said to be a top target for Ange Postecoglou this summer, as he looks to add more creativity to his rebuild in North London (TEAMtalk).
The Mirror claim that Crystal Palace will not allow Eze to leave for anything less than his £60m release clause (plus add-ons). This comes after the Eagles already parted ways with Michael Olise this month.
The report says that Tottenham would be ‘powerless to prevent the player succumbing to the lure of the Etihad’ if Man City do follow up on their interest.
The Guardian also reported this week that Tottenham and Arsenal are yet to follow up on their interest in Eze with any kind of talks or official bid.
Spurs Web Opinion:
Tottenham are yet to make any actual move for Eze, despite the consistent links. That means they are either not interested in activating such a high release clause, or they are waiting for a big sale before making their move.
For example, a £60m Richarlison sale could provide the cash needed to bring Eze in.
