A woman was fatally shot in north Fremont on Saturday night, police said.
Fremont Police Department officers responded to reports of a shooting at 8:55 p.m., near Lake Arrowhead Avenue and Alvarado Boulevard. They found a woman with a gunshot wound and pronounced her dead at the scene, police said in a release.
They said initial information suggests that the suspect, who fled before police arrived on the scene, knew the victim. The department did not release the victim’s name.
The homicide was Fremont’s second of the day: Around 1:25 p.m., a man was fatally shot in the Niles district.
