It’s only been a few weeks since details leaked of a “Tekken 8” x Nike Air Foamposite One collaboration inspired by the video game’s antagonist character Kazuya Mishima and now, more information has surfaced after an official announcement was made Saturday in Las Vegas at the Evo 2024 tournament.
The annual video game tournament, which focuses specifically on fighting games, is taking place at the Las Vegas Convention Center West Hall this weekend. Popular titles including “Street Fighter 6” and “Mortal Kombat 1” are featured at the event, but it’s the Bandai Namco Entertainment-published “Tekken 8” that captured the attention of sneaker fans.
After images of the aforementioned Kazuya Mishima-inspired Nike Air Foamposite One hit the internet earlier this month, attendees were anticipating more looks at the unexpected sneaker collab, and they got that and more. Not only was the “Kazuya Mishima” (aka “Fist”) Air Foamposite One formally revealed, but Bandai Namco Entertainment and Nike shared a first glimpse at the accompanying style inspired by the game’s protagonist, Jin Kazama.
The official reveal included an autumn release date announcement, which matches the previously rumored September launch. An exact date has not yet been shared, but the pairs are confirmed to retail for $250 each.
In addition to being treated to a detailed breakdown of the project, Evo tournament attendees also had an exclusive chance to buy the “Kazuya Mishima” Tekken 8 x Nike Air Foamposite One (style code FQ9050-400). It was launched Saturday on Nike’s SNKRS app via the SNKRS Stash feature in which users must be located in specific coordinates to unlock the ability to purchase. Currently, listings on eBay and GOAT for the “Kazuya Mishima” sneakers range between roughly $800 and $1,000.
It’s already been a busy year for the Nike Air Foamposite One model. On Friday, the Comme des Garçons Homme Plus “Cat Eye” collaboration was released and Penny Hardaway’s original royal blue colorway is due to return this fall.
The Tekken 8 x Nike Air Foamposite One sneakers will also soon be making a digital appearance in the game, as confirmed by the official Tekken Instagram account. Readers can find a closer look at both styles including the just-revealed “Jin Kazama” colorway (style code HF6367-001) below.
