Madhya Pradesh Viral Video: In a shocking incident, two women were partially buried under gravel which was off-loaded onto them by a dumper truck while the duo were protesting the construction of a road in a village of Rewa district in Madhya Pradesh.
Videos of the incident which have gone viral on social media sites showed the two women, identified as Mamta Pandey and Asha Pandey, sitting behind a truck laden with murrum– a type of reddish clay-like material used in road construction– when the driver dumps the entire load on top of them, nearly burying the duo alive under the rubble.

According to the police, the incident took place on Saturday at the Hinota Jorot village under Mangawa police station, when the two women were protesting the construction of a road in the area.

A senior police official claimed the incident was a fallout of a family dispute, and one accused involved in the case has been arrested, while efforts are underway to nab two others.
“Mamta Pandey and Asha Pandey, were protesting against the construction of a road and got partially buried under the gravel material. Police are investigating the matter, and action will be taken based on evidence,” said Additional Superintendent of Police Vivek Lal.
ADG (Law and Order) Jaideep Prasad said that the incident stemmed out of family dispute over land.
“Complainant Asha Pandey said the dispute was related to a piece of co-owned land with her relative Gokaran Pandey and she along with her sister-in-law protested when a road was being constructed on that land,” the officer said.
She told the police that the driver of the dumper off-loaded the murrum on them and later villagers pulled them out, the ADG said.
Police said they have registered a case against three persons and one of them was arrested, adding the dumper truck involved in the incident has been seized.
A search is underway to arrest the other two accused, they said.
Meanwhile, the opposition Congress targeted Madhya Pradesh’s BJP government over the incident, questioning law and order situation in the and the safety of women in the saffron party-ruled state.
State Congress leaders also demanded a thorough probe into the incident and strict punishment to the guilty.
“I demand from the chief minister that a detailed inquiry be conducted into this incident and the culprits be given the harshest punishment. Such incidents bring shame to Madhya Pradesh in the entire world.” veteran Congress leader and former CM Kamal Nath said.
State Congress chief Jitu Patwari said the Rewa incident has once again raised serious questions about women’s safety under the BJP-ruled government as MP “ranks first in atrocities against women”.
Patwari claimed the MP government has repeatedly failed to stop crimes against women.
Responding to the opposition’s attacks, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav asserted the security of citizens, especially women, has been a high priority of the state government. Yadav lauded the state police’s swift action in the case which resulted in the arrest of one of the three accused and said he has issued directions to the Rewa district administration to take immediate action in the case.
“A case of crime against women in Rewa district came to my notice from a video received through social media, wherein I have directed the district administration and police to take immediate action,’ the CM wrote on X.
It was a family dispute and police arrested one accused. A search is on for two others, Yadav said, adding the two women have been discharged from the hospital after treatment.
“The safety of the citizens of Madhya Pradesh, especially women, is the top priority of the government. The accused will not be spared in any crime against them. The harshest punishment will be given,” he added.
