A SKINCARE fan has credited a serum for repairing her problematic under-eye area.
She felt that the serum worked better than any anti-aging cream she’s tried.

“I don’t use eye cream any longer. I found an effective serum routine that helped better than any specific product,” Redditor Onlykitten said.
Her active-heavy routine, she explained, serves as the foundation.
“After my glycolic peel (20%) I rinse thoroughly and apply a low molecular weight [hyaluronic acid], then I spray my face with Avene water (any water will work to keep the HA hydrated),” she said.
After hydrating her skin with a facial spray, she opts for more concentrated beauty products.
“Then I will use a few drops of beta glucan, which is 20% more hydrating than HA and doesn’t ‘pull moisture from your skin.’
“It hydrates differently, kind of from the inside out.”
Beta glucan, a soluable fiber, comes from the cell walls of plants, yeasts, and bacteria.
The fiber is commonly used to treat heart disease and high cholesterol, as well as eczema.
According to Paula’s Choice, in skincare, the fiber acts as an antioxidant and helps fight off bacteria.
A single purchase, however, made the most difference for her under-eyes.
“After those have settled a few minutes, I use Paula’s Choice 25% stabilized vitamin C serum (although it’s more of a cream and soft),” she said.
“This combo keeps my skin and especially my under eyes really hydrated.”
Once the serum has properly sunk into her skin, she finishes off the rest of her routine with steps to keep her hard work locked in.
Dermatologist Dr. Brendan Camp shared his dermatologist-approved tips with The U.S. Sun.
“As I move on to the rest of my routine, I take a bit of silicone-based primer and put it on my lightly damp skin,” she said.
“I feel like this locks in the moisture — as I don’t see any fine lines or crepey skin when I finally get to my tinted sunscreen (which is all I use).”
A handy trick even helps boost her sunscreen with even more moisture.
“I actually put a bit of beta glucan in my tinted sunscreen for extra moisture,” she said.
She explained that not only did it help increase the look of her under-eyes but also improved her skin for the entire day.
“It made a huge difference in the way my skin looks throughout the day (especially my under eyes as that’s my ‘problem area’),” she said.
