A yellow weather warning for high temperatures on Sunday has been issued by the department of meteorology.
The warning is in place from 11am until 5pm.
The maximum temperature is expected to rise around 42C inland and around 32C over the higher mountainous areas 34C the west coast and 37C on the others.
Another warm night is forecast, a temperatures are set to fall to 27C inland, 26C on the beaches and 22C in the mountains.
Temperatures are expected to remain higher than the seasonal average until Wednesday.
