Jasper Johnson, a five-star guard in the class of 2025, has declared for the Overtime Elite Draft and will play his senior season of high school in the OTE league, he confirmed to ZAGSBLOG Saturday.
This will not effect his college eligibility.
“I’m excited to join OTE for my senior season to really take my game to the next level, getting the best training and competing with the best players in the country,” Johnson said in a release. “Coming to OTE to develop puts me one step closer to achieving my dreams, and I can’t wait to get to work”
The move comes after former Link Academy head coach Bill Armstrong went to Baylor as an assistant.
“We like good players, but we love good player with high character,” Overtime Elite Director of Recruiting Aki Collins told ZAGSBLOG. “Jasper is a great young man and fits what we are looking for here at OTE. His character is what we value the most.”
The 6-foot-5 guard has long been known as one of the best shooters in his class. He recently took visits to Alabama and Illinois, while helping USA Basketball’s U18 squad to a gold medal in the FIBA AmeriCup, averaging 10.0 points and 2.7 assists in 15.9 minutes per game. He shot a team best 42.3% from three-point range (11-26 3FG).
He recently broke down the Tide and Illini, as well as interests like North Carolina, Kentucky and Baylor to ZAGSBLOG at the Nike EYBL Peach Jam.
