While on SiriusXM’s Town Hall, Hugh asked Ryan and Shawn to spill about their meeting.
“Let’s preface it with the fact that they don’t license — that Madonna doesn’t just license the song, particularly that song,” Ryan said. “It was a big deal to ask for it and certainly a bigger deal to use it.”
He continued, explaining that they met with Madonna and explained exactly how they wanted to use the song.
Ryan stressed that he was so star-struck that he wasn’t sure how to even address the hitmaker.
“Like am I allowed to just say, ‘Madonna,’” he recalled asking someone on her team. “Like, ‘Hello Madonna, I’m Ryan.’”
While he didn’t ask if she was a fan of the franchise, Ryan added that her son apparently enjoyed the movies.
Additionally, she had some advice for them!
“She gave a great note,” he explained. “She watched it, and I’m not kidding, just was like, ‘You need to do this.’ And d-mn it, if she wasn’t like spot on.”
Shawn agreed, saying that they made the change “within 48 hours.”
