Can the A’s go three games straight with 13+ runs
Everyone wonders if the time off for the All-star break will cool down hot bats. We got our answer last night, and hopefully continue the trend today as the Los Angeles Angels stick around for game two of the series against our Oakland Athletics at the Coliseum. After finishing the first half with an 18-3 victory over the NL East leading Phillies, our A’s continued to show some serious pop with their victory over the Angels last night 13-3.
This afternoon at home, Mark Kotsay will send out 26-year-old righthander Mitch Spence to face the Angels. Spence comes into today’s matchup with a 4-5 record and a 4.75 ERA in eleven starts and twenty-two overall appearances. Spence will face fellow rookie Jack Von Kochanowicz. This will be Kochanowicz’ second start of his career. His record stands at 0-1 with a 12.00 ERA in just three innings this year. He was the Angels third round pick (92 overall) in the 2019 draft.
Yesterday’s AAA call-up Jacob Wilson left his debut yesterday in the fourth inning with a strained hamstring. He’s scheduled for an MRI tomorrow according to Martín Gallegos of MLB.com.
Kochanowicz will face this lineup for the A’s today:
Spence will go up against this lineup for Ron Washington’s Angels:
