TROY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The Troy Police Department honored one of its officers for his dedication to the city. A walkout ceremony was held Friday morning for Det. Sgt. Ralph Southworth, who is retiring after 20 years with the department.
He has held multiple positions, including drug recognition expert and patrol sergeant. He said he is grateful for the opportunity for career advancement.
"I love this department. It's been part of my life since I was 19 years old," he said. "I started out as an intern here, and it's been, it's been a good thing for me, and I don't regret a single thing."
His law enforcement career is not over. He will serve as the assistant chief of the Schodack Police Department.
