Tottenham are set to announce the signing of Southampton’s head of national recruitment, Simon Jones, who has over three decades of experience in the game (The Athletic).
A highly rated figure at Southampton, Simon Jones will be reunited with Jack Chapman, whom Spurs brought over earlier this summer to become the new head of academy recruitment.
The pair had previously worked together at Southampton from 2021 onwards, and both are credited with rebuilding the club’s recruitment and pre-academy programmes.
Jones was initially appointed as a lead regional scout but he was soon promoted to his current role as national head of recruitment, which involves looking after the age groups between under-14s and under-19s.
Providing nearly thirty years of experience in scouting and recruitment, Jones will offer a plethora of knowledge and should oversee fruitful development during his time at Tottenham with Chapman.
Tottenham seem to be putting more and more emphasis on youth at Hotspur Way, investing time, money and effort into players of the future.
The likes of Will Lankshear, Jamie Donley, Alfie Dorrington, Mikey Moore, Tyrese Hall and co have impressed over the past 12 months, with the U21 side even winning Premier League 2 last season.
The signing of Simon Jones seems to be further proof that Spurs are building something new and long-lasting in North London, with youth at its core.
