Things could go very well for him at Virginia
Watching players leave after last season was no fun but other than Jeremy Roach, the player we probably hated seeing leave the most was TJ Power.
Power was thin and deep in the rotation at Duke, but you could see the talent. He was - is - going to be a very good player. With a stroke like his, how could he not be? He’s got a very special talent. All he really needed to be very good was time and muscle.
As it turns out, he transferred to Virginia and he should fit Tony Bennett’s system well, at least offensively. Bennett’s Pack Line defense is not easy. We’ve said before that while it’s boring on TV, watching it in person makes it really obvious how hard those guys work. It’s like hand-to-hand combat.
If he can master that, if he can put on some more muscle, Power is going to realize the tantalizing potential we saw in brief glimpses in Cameron this past season. And that jump shot is still going to be beautiful.
