'He's so far gone': Trump mocked as he revives 'late, great Hannibal Lecter' comparison
Former President Donald Trump once again found a way to bring the fictional cannibal from "The Silence of the Lambs" into a speech, this time at the Republican National Convention.
The comment came as Trump repeated to his MAGA supporters that a deluge of dangerous undocumented migrants are flooding over the U.S.-Mexico border.
"You know the press is always on me because I say this. Has anyone seen 'Silence of the Lambs?'" Trump said to a smattering of laughs. "The late, great Hannibal Lecter. He'd love to have you for dinner."
More laughs could be heard from the crowd.
"That's insane asylums. They're emptying out their insane asylums and terrorists are coming in at numbers we've never seen before," he added. "Bad things are going to happen."

Many Twitter users could not believe what they were hearing.
"I feel like I am in an insane asylum tbh," wrote CNN commentator Jill Filipovic.
"He's so far gone," lamented @MayoIsSpicyy.
"OMG he did it at the RNC, he mentioned Hannibal Lecter at the RN f---ing C," exclaimed @SitaRose27.
Self-described Democratic operative @DenisonBarbs jabbed: "There’s irony in a man with gauze on his ear, talking about Hannibal Lecter."
"So his acceptance speech was basically him recycling the garbage he spews at his rallies? How presidential," chided @geemom57.
"Holy s---," wrote Democratic strategist Chris D. Jackson. "He is talking about Hannibal Lecter at the convention."
He added: "The press owes Joe Biden an apology."
