What, did you think that Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman went on Inkigayo and appeared at the Waterbomb Festival in Seoul without knowing anything about K-pop? Both Marvel actors made cameos in Stray Kids’ music video for “Chk Chk Boom,” with Reynolds starring as a news anchor for CCB News and Jackman playing his meteorologist coworker. In the video, the world is in disarray, but the members of the Stray Kids — Hyunjin, Felix, Lee Know, Bang Chan, Han, Seungmin, Changbin, and I.N — are unbothered by colorful explosions and chaotic backdrops as they dance and deliver confident lyrics in Korean, English, and Spanish.
Reynolds has a long history of showing appreciation for Stray Kids, which can be traced back to their 2021 Deadpool-themed performance on the competition show Kingdom: Legendary War. All eight members of Stray Kids recently re-signed their contracts with JYP Entertainment, and the group is featured on the upcoming Deadpool & Wolverine soundtrack with the song “Slash.” Unfortunately, this real-life working relationship didn’t help Reynolds out much in the music video — when Stray Kids showed up at CCB News, they quickly shot down his request to become their ninth member. “Chk Chk Boom” dropped on July 19, as part of the group’s eight-track EP, Ate.
