LASRRA ENROLS STUDENTS INTO LAGOS STATE HEALTH INSURANCE SCHEME

Lagos State Residents Registration Agency (LASRRA) has commenced the enrolment of the students of the Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH) registered with LASRRA into the State Health Insurance Scheme, tagged: “Ilera Eko”. The initiative is aimed at ensuring that all students residing in Lagos State have access to essential healthcare services and other benefits provided by the state government.

Speaking during the flag-off of the exercise held on Tuesday at the Institution’s Main Campus, Ikorodu, the General Manager of LASRRA, Mrs. Bilikiss Adebiyi-Abiola said that students who registered with LASRRA are now set to benefit significantly from this integration which guarantees access to quality healthcare services across the state.

The General Manager, who spoke through the Director, Registration Department, LASRRA, Mrs. Bolanle Lawal said that data of the residents in Lagos State play a pivotal role in ensuring that individuals are properly documented and can access various government services seamlessly.

Her words: “Integrating LASRRA-registered students into the Lagos State Health Insurance Scheme (Ilera Eko) is a proactive step towards enhancing their well-being and ensuring they have access to essential healthcare services. This initiative aligns with the Lagos State Government’s commitment to improving the quality of life for all residents by providing comprehensive healthcare coverage”.

“The integration offers numerous advantages to students such as access to a wide range of healthcare services, including consultations, treatments, and medications, without financial barriers. It is affordable for students by reducing out-of-pocket expenses and financial strain on families. Students can also benefit from preventive care services such as vaccinations, screenings, and health education programmes, promoting overall well-being and reducing the incidence of serious illnesses”, Lawal stated.

According to her, being part of the LASRRA database opens doors to other government benefits and services, including educational support, social welfare programmes, and civic engagements. It fosters a sense of belonging and ensures that the students are recognised and supported within the Lagos State community.

She encouraged all students registered with LASRRA to take advantage of the opportunity to enrol in the Lagos State Health Insurance Scheme, saying by doing so, they secure their health and contribute to building a healthier and more resilient Lagos”, she averred.

The Lagos State Residents Registration Agency (LASRRA) is responsible for registering all residents of Lagos State to enable proper planning and provision of public services. This is done by capturing demographic data accurately, LASRRA ensures that residents, including students, have access to government services and benefits effectively.

The essence of LASHMA and LASRRA collaboration using a Google Sheet to populate LASHMA number of students from LASRRA data to streamline the process, enhance data accuracy, improve efficiency, and facilitate better health management services for students and other residents in Lagos State.
