Shaquille O’Neal Models Reebok Sneakers in Power Suit on ‘Good Morning America’

Shaquille O’Neal mixed athleticism with formality for an appearance on “Good Morning America” on July 17. The retired NBA star repped his brand Reebok with black sneakers, matching them to a black suit.
Shaq walked the streets of New York outside ABC Studios in a mostly black ensemble. For his apparel, he opted for classic formal pieces to discuss his new game show, “Lucky 13,” on the morning news program; his mostly monochrome look included suit pants, a jacket, a button-down shirt and a belt. He added personal flair to his outfit with a patterned bandana tucked under his shirt, which complemented his clear glasses.
Shaq matched his suit to a pair of Nano X3 Training Shoes from Reebok. The sneakers contrasted black woven textile uppers — made of trademarked Flexweave material — with a beige rubber outsole. Described as “a training shoe you can actually run in,” the sneakers also include Reebok’s Lift and Run Chassis system and Floatride Energy Foam.
As opposed to a strictly horizontal separation, the shoes were designed with a zig-zagging line delineating the sole from the upper portion; the shoes also featured black laces. With a sleek two-toned neutral colorway, O’Neill’s shoes blended with his black suit while bringing a casual element to the formal outfit.
Black sneakers remain a popular gender-neutral wardrobe staple, serving as a versatile and comfortable footwear option that can be paired with a wide range of outfits. Emily Ratajkowski, for example, wore a chunky style while out in New York in December 2023, pairing the athletic shoes with a statement plaid and fur jacket from Prada. The timeless black sneaker continues to be reinvented — Nike and Air Jordan’s forthcoming Air Jordan 4 RM will be released in the brand’s Black Cat colorway, which is entirely black save for the white Jumpman and Nike Air logos.
Shaq has a close relationship with the footwear industry. The four-time NBA Finals champion first signed a deal with Reebok in 1992, the same year he joined the Orlando Magic as the first pick of the NBA draft. His partnership with Reebok has included several versions of the basketball shoe known as Shaq Attack. In 2023, he was named president of the company’s basketball division while Alan Iverson was named vice president. Standing seven foot one, Shaq famously wears size 22 shoes, opting for a roomier shoe since he is technically a size 20.
