SHE thought nothing of letting her mum decorate her baby bump with fake tattoos at a garden party.
But Katie hadn’t anticipated that her sunscreen wouldn’t work as well on her changing figure.
And that combined with the strength of the sun meant that she ended up getting sunburned – with little marks on her bump where the stickers had been.
Katie took to TikTok to share the hilarious situation, as she shared a clip of her mum putting the tattoos in place at their 4th July celebration.
“Letting your mum put silly little 4th of July tattoos on your baby bump thinking nothing of it…” she wrote over the top.
Katie then showed the after-effects of the bump tattoos, as she wrote: “Getting sunburned and realising you have maternity photos in one week”.
“Help! who has a good concealer recommendation?” Katie added in the video caption.
People were quick to comment on the clip, with one writing: “Grandma and baby’s first art project. I like it!”
“I GIGGLED SO HARD,” another added.
“But it’s still so cute!” a third commented.
“To be honest I would just roll with it and make it a funny shoot lol,” someone else suggested.
“This is gonna be a great story to tell one day,” another laughed.
“I’m crying,” someone else wrote.
To which Katie replied: “It’s so bad!
“Spray tan did not help! I don’t want to have to cover up the bump!”
“They’re so hard to get off too,” another sighed.
“I got a burn too on tattoos!”
Others recalled their own similarly hilarious situations, with one writing: “We did this a few years for the fourth and she ended up going into labour and delivered with the tattoos still on!”
“My grandma did the same thing to me the day before I went into labour with permanent marker,” another added.
“Trying to get it off sent me into labour!”
As a third said: “We drew in Sharpie all over my mum, she went into labour the next day and couldn’t even see the horrific things we wrote on her lower belly and upper thighs!”
Dermatologist and skincare enthusiast Andrea Suarez - known as Dr Dray - revealed why you should wear suncream.
The one thing you can do that will make the biggest difference – and this matters for all ages – is protecting your skin from the sun, Andrea stressed.
“The vast majority of external aging is due to exposure to ultraviolet radiation,” she continued, not because you’re “not using some jazzy serum or layering 90 different things on your face everyday”.
“If you’re not doing in your 20s, get on that now.”
But she said the use of sun cream alone doesn’t go far enough. Andrea urged that you also wear sun-protective clothing like broad-brimmed hats and long sleeves, on top of not staying out too long in the sun.
Doing this over your lifetime – and all year, not just during the summer or on sunny days – “will reduce the visible signs of photoageing”, Andrea said.
Those are wrinkles, muddled pigmentation and sagging skin.
While there were more helpful comments from those suggesting how Katie could fix the unfortunate sunburn marks.
“As a photographer- this is a quick fix in photoshop! Don’t sweat it too much mama!” one wrote.
“Vitamin e oil in your lotion and apply to sun burned areas = nice pretty tan the day after,” another said.
“Put blush where the stickers were to blend it w/ the rest of the pink and hide the shapes then cover entire area with light bronzer or spray leg concealer by Sally Hanson to help reduce the pink!” a third suggested.
