A MIDSOMER Murders star revealed how he sustained an injury while doing a stunt on the show.
Lead actors Neil Dudgeon and Nick Hendrix appeared on Monday’s (July 15) episode of This Morning.
In the week’s first instalment of the hit ITV show, the stars chatted to hosts Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary about the long-running detective programme.
New episodes will be on viewers’ screens from tonight (July 16), following a three-month hiatus.
While speaking on This Morning, an injury which occurred while making the show was revealed.
The revelation came as Nick, 39, who plays Detective Sergeant Jamie Winter, was asked about his experience working with co-star Neil.
Nick replied: “Neil is an inspiration, a mentor figure, a father figure and I’ve learned so much from him.”
After Alison mentioned that Neil, 63, is “doing his own stunts”, his co-star added: “Yes, he is doing his own stunts. He’s got a bit of a dodgy knee. As long as the knee is alright and the elbow.”
While not giving too much away about the plot, Neil, who became the show’s lead in 2010, said they had been doing a scene involving a chase.
Providing more information, the DCI John Barnaby actor revealed: “They said that we’ve just got to run around the table so I did that three or four times, and it all went fine.
Then that night, I got home and thought oh my knee and it’s still bad two years later.”
In response, Alison said to Neil: “You’re joking.”
Meanwhile, Neil looked at the camera and quipped: “I’ve not put a claim in.”
Nick humorously added: “It’s very dangerous being a TV detective.”
When Dermot asked Nick if he was doing any stunts, the star revealed: “I try to do some stunts but I always feel bad.”
It comes as the ITV show has put trigger warnings on historic episodes.
One example, titled Death in Disguise, originally aired during series one back in 1998.
Crime drama buffs have a wide selection of choices on ITVX - here is a selection of some of the programmes available to binge.
The synopsis reads: “When the founder of a nearby commune is murdered, DCI Barnaby is faced with an eccentric cast of suspects including an heiress, a psychic, and a boy who has lost his tongue.”
However, a warning message from ITV read: “Contains some violence and crime scene images.”
Midsomer Murders is set to return to screens tonight, Tuesday, July 16.
The new episode of the long-running crime series is titled The Debt of Lies and it will air at 8:15pm on ITV1.
