Mortgage rates are the lowest they've been since March in response to cooler-than-expected inflation data. Average 30-year mortgage rates are hovering in the low 6% range, according to Zillow data.
In June, the Consumer Price Index rose 3.0%, a slowdown from May's 3.3% reading. As inflation continues to decelerate, the Federal Reserve is expected to start lowering the federal funds rate, removing upward pressure off of mortgage rates and allowing them to trend down.
