K-Nation (07/14/24) - Avery Johnson, Jalen Daniels, Frank Mason previews TBT and more

NORTHEAST KANSAS (KSNT) - With the 2024 Big 12 football media days in the books, this week's episode of K-Nation highlights preseason story lines, and more.

K-Nation's Glenn Kinley made the trip to media days in Las Vegas, where he caught up with K-State's Chris Klieman and KU's Lance Leipold. In addition to previewing their team's seasons, both coaches offer up their advice for young football coaches.

Both K-Nation starting quarterbacks, K-State's Avery Johnson and KU's Jalon Daniels also joined Kinley for one-on-one interviews. Daniels shares what he's been doing during the offseason to get healthy, and full ready to go, for the season. Johnson discusses how he's been building chemistry with his offense, as he heads into his first year at the Wildcats' starter.

The K-Nation team breaks down some of the biggest takeaways from Big 12 media days, including which K-State and KU players are expected to have breakout seasons.

A pair of Jayhawk legends are featured in this week's K-Nation, both of which are getting set to relive their days in the crimson and blue. Former KU men's basketball star Frank Mason is gearing up for the TBT tournament in late July, while former KU baseball coach Dave Bingham is getting inducted into the Kansas Sports Hall of Fame in October.

A pair of Wildcat coaches, one who's on his way to be a Wildcat and one who's moving onto his next gig, are also featured this week. Nate Awbrey, former K-State men's basketball player and graduate assistant, just secured his first head coaching job at Wichita Trinity Academy. Travis Geopfert, former assistant coach for Arkansas track, was named the new head track and field coach at K-State.

K-State men's basketball is set to open the 2024 Paradise Jam against George Washington in November, and KU men's basketball's non-conference schedule features a busy, 11-game slate.
