Kate and William pay tribute to England football team with cute pic of Charlotte and Louis
Prince William and Kate Middleton have paid tribute to the England football team after losing to Spain in the Euro 2024 final on Sunday night.
The Prince and Princess of Wales released an image of their youngest two children Charlotte, nine, and Louis, six, watching last night’s match on the TV.
Both the young prince and princess were wearing England jerseys with their name and age on the back.
Older brother Prince George, 10, was lucky enough to be at the match in Berlin’s Olympiastadion with his dad and 40,000 England fans while his siblings stayed home.
In the X post, they said: ‘England, your teamwork, grit and determination were an inspiration to all of us, young and old. Congratulations to Spain. W & C.’
England battled all the way to the football tournament’s final over the last month.
They managed to score one goal to equalise after half-time, but ultimately they lost the match to Spain, who won 2-1.
In a letter to England manager Gareth Southgate, King Charles wrote: ‘Although victory may have eluded you this evening, nevertheless my wife and I join all my family in urging you and your support team to hold your heads high.
‘All those who have participated in sporting activities sat any level will know how utterly despairing such a result can feel when the prize was so nearand will join me in sending heartfelt sympathy – even as we congratulate Spain.
‘But please know that your success in reaching the European Championship final is a really great achievement in itself, and one that brings with it the pride of a nation which will continue to roar for the Three Lions today – an in the many triumphs which I have no doubt lie ahead.’
The King had previously begged the team to avoid any last minute surprises following their semi-final win over the Netherlands.
He said: ‘My wife and I join all our family in wishing you the warmest congratulations on reaching the final of the U.E.F.A. European Championship – and in sending our very best wishes for Sunday’s match.
‘If I may encourage you to secure victory before the need for any last minute wonder-goals or another penalties drama, I am sure the stresses on the nation’s collective heart rate and blood pressure would be greatly alleviated!
‘Good luck, England.’
