Miami: It was a night to forget for arguably the best player in the planet – Lionel Messi. Things just did not go according to plan for the Argentinian icon during the Copa America 2024 final versus Colombia at the Hard Rock stadium. He was first dashed in the 35th-minute of the match inside the box by Arias. While that tackle left Messi on the ground moaning in pain, the one that happened in the second half forced Messi to leave the ground midway through the summit clash.
If that was not enough to end his night, he was tackled again by Luis Diaz from behind in the 64th-minute. Eventually, Messi had to leave the pitch. He was then spotted crying in the dugout. Messi was also spotted crying after being forcibly substituted. Now there are images of Messi’s swollen foot that is going viral on social space as fans are reacting to it. The swelling looks bad and will surely take him sometime to recover.

With the spotlight on Messi, it now seems hard to say what future holds in store for the Argentinian captain. Messi is arguably the best footballer of the generation. He is currently 37 years old.
Not long back, in an interview with Argentine sports media outlet “DSports,” Messi addressed the possibility of retiring from international soccer. When asked about his future, he said:
“Now that all this is happening and what we are living, I enjoy it, I enjoy the day to day, and it will be until when it has to be, until I feel that I can’t take it anymore.”
