Unidentified attackers assaulted Afghan migrants in Fars province, Iran

Several Afghan migrants in Iran reported that a group of unidentified individuals attacked their workplace in Dorudzan village, Marvdasht County, Fars Province, during the night with “sticks and knives.”

According to the report, at least six Afghan workers were injured in this attack.

According to these migrants, the assailants took away their cash and phones after the attack.

Images and videos circulated on social media show several injured individuals lying on the ground with bloodied and wounded bodies on a farm.

According to these images, ambulances were dispatched to the scene to transport the wounded.

The migrants said that “Lats” attacked their workplace on the night of July 11. According to these migrants, the “Lats” attacked with knives, sticks, and needles.

They urged Iranian authorities to arrest the perpetrators of this incident and interrogate them.

Afghan migrants said the injured from this incident are hospitalized at Marvdasht Hospital in Shiraz.

Iranian authorities have not commented on this incident so far.

This is not the first time Afghan migrants in Iran have been attacked. According to reports, Afghan migrants in various regions of Iran have been subjected to mistreatment and beatings over the years, with perpetrators not being held accountable.

Many Afghan refugees face severe violations of their human rights in host countries, including forced deportations, harassment, and inadequate protection.

Despite international obligations to safeguard refugees, reports indicate instances where Afghan refugees are forcibly returned to Afghanistan, often facing unsafe conditions upon their return.

Furthermore, these refugees frequently encounter harassment and discrimination, exacerbating their vulnerable situation in Iran.

The lack of adequate human rights protection for Afghan refugees is a significant concern. Neighbouring countries, including Iran, Pakistan and Turkey countries, often fail to provide sufficient legal and social protections, leaving refugees vulnerable to exploitation, violence, and arbitrary detention.

The international community has called for greater adherence to human rights standards and comprehensive support mechanisms to ensure the safety and well-being of Afghan refugees globally.
