The expected east swell began filling in yesterday evening and by 0500 was just shy of 3 metres out at sea with a 10-second period. The wind call was for SW but as of 0600 it was straight west at around 10-15kts. Tide hit the 0.5 m low at 0630 and will peak out at a moderate 1.35 m at 1250.
Did the Saturday morning radio beach check and it looked like the Narrabeen to Surfrider Gardens stretch was a better hunting ground than the Longy to Dee Why strand. Definitely not a morning for beginners.
From the look of the swell models, I’m thinking tomorrow will be similar to today and that there should be fun waves into mid-week as the energy levels gradually taper off.
Go well, stay safe and know your limits – this is serious swell energy.

Weather Situation
A strong and gusty south to southwesterly change moves up the coast today in association with a cold front slipping away to the south of the region. These south to southwesterly winds will strengthen, mainly in the south, during the weekend and into Monday, as a low pressure system moves south over the western Tasman Sea whilst deepening.
