Intense sniping between Democrats who want President Joe Biden to step aside and stalwart voters who want him to remain at the top of the ticket saw the hosts of Pod Save America podcast take a beating on social media Friday.
Dan Pfeiffer, Jon Lovett, Jon Favreau, and Tommy Vieto — all former aides to President Barack Obama — have been leading the charge for Biden to relinquish his hold on the delegates headed to the Democratic convention in August and give someone else a shot, the Guardian reports.
The pod "bros," as they have been indirectly called by MSNBC host Joe Scarborough, have been taking heat for what they believe is a pragmatic approach to the election, according to reporter Lois Beckett.
"Now, with the Democratic party in an unprecedented crisis over Biden’s capacity to serve another term, the Pod Save America hosts have emerged as some of the most high-profile proponents of Biden dropping out of the race, even as they have pledged to fight hard to elect him if he becomes the official nominee," Beckett writes.
Pfeiffer and Favreau continued their mission with an X Friday, but faced an onslaught of criticism from fans — some now former — who claim they are unsubscribing with one commenter summing them up as "insufferable."

"I find this situation very personally uncomfortable," Pfeieffier admitted in his X video, after adding he has avoided engaging in an online flame war with critics.
Commenters have been mostly unforgiving.
"You’re not being honest with yourselves about the damage you’re causing as you continue along this track with your good intentions," replied one commenter. "You’ve explained yourselves ad nauseam. Time for some concessions and rebuttals."
In a similar vein, ZK Franks replied, "The debate performance was 2 weeks ago and polls are showing had NO EFFECT. You required Biden get out there & show differently than the debate. He did What other requests do you have now. You are making the perfect the enemy of the good."
Stephen Dyer wrote, "Tell ya what. Go get elected. Do a great job. Then listen to people tell you you can’t win. Then get back to me about how easy it would be to quit. Speaking as a fmr elected, I don’t know if you can understand unless you’ve been elected. It ain’t ur name on the ballot."
"Whatever. Damage done," accused I Voted for Kunk to which Boys Mom added, "'I've unsubscribed to the podcast. 4 straight pods on " we are just having the discussion of replacing Biden". Please move on."
"Sometimes I actually wonder if they believe what they say," noted Pedro Zamora.

X user Barb wrote, "How can I get a refund for my PSA live tickets? I will not be lectured to for supporting our presidential TICKET. The disrespect @VP gets is breathtaking. Black women are the backbone of the Dem party, and they are #RidinWithBidenHarris2024 #ListenToBlackWomen"
Matt Broad asked, "Why should we listen to a bunch of guys who got it totally wrong in 2016?"
"I’ve watched your statements over the last weeks with increasing disgust. You are part of the media creating this crisis. You have lost a long-time listener," claimed Retired Teacher.
Denise Clay-Murray offered some sage advice: "When you have to continuously explain yourself, you’ve already lost."
